PDP Meeting for Egbeda-Ona Ara Candidate Ends in Stalemate

A meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains aimed at producing a consensus candidate for the Egbeda-Ona Ara federal constituency ahead of the 2027 elections ended in stalemate on Monday in Ibadan, the state capital. The meeting was attended by 16 leaders from the two local government areas, including former Minister of Special Duties, Wole Oyeles.

Five aspirants were present, with four from Ona Ara local government area and one from Egbeda local government area. The meeting was convened following a directive from the state governor, Seyi Makinde, who warned that failure to agree on a candidate would lead to further discussions on April 15 of the same year.

However, the leaders and aspirants could not reach an agreement, resulting in the indefinite adjournment of the meeting. The situation reflects ongoing challenges within the party as they prepare for the upcoming elections.
