Senator Natasha Advocates for E-Transmission in Elections and Questions Oil Spill Remediation Efforts

Senator Natasha, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to embrace e-transmission of election results without delay. She emphasized the need for real-time transmission and suggested collaborating with satellite internet providers like Starlink for seamless connectivity, even in remote polling units.

Additionally, during a session related to the Ministry of Marine Blue Economy, Natasha and Senator Akpoti Uduaghan raised concerns about oil spills' impact on Nigeria's marine resources. They questioned the Minister about the government's engagement with international oil companies, particularly Shell, to ensure effective environmental remediation and restoration of affected coastal communities.

The Minister acknowledged the need for intergovernmental collaboration in addressing oil spill remediation. This discussion is part of the National Assembly's review of budget allocations within the marine transport sector ahead of the 2026 fiscal cycle, with a focus on environmental compliance and coastal infrastructure security.
