Cristo Fernández Signs with El Paso Locomotive FC

Cristo Fernández, best known for his role as Dani Rojas in the series "Ted Lasso," has signed with El Paso Locomotive FC, a USL Championship side, after completing a trial period. The 35-year-old Mexican actor is making an unconventional return to professional football, a sport he had to leave at the age of 15 due to a knee injury.

Following his injury, Fernández moved to London to pursue an acting career, which gained international recognition with "Ted Lasso," which aired from 2020 to 2023. Despite his success in acting, Fernández has maintained a connection to football and previously had a trial with the reserve team of Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire FC.

In a statement, Fernández expressed that football has always been a core part of his identity and that he is driven by a passion to pursue his long-held dream of competing professionally. El Paso Locomotive's head coach, Junior Gonzalez, welcomed Fernández, describing him as a great addition to the squad's attacking options.
