Police Arrest Suspect with 115 Rounds of Ammunition

On Tuesday, operatives from the Guma Police Division in Benue State conducted a routine stop-and-search operation that led to the arrest of a suspect named Joro Jakata, 20, from Awe LGA of Nasarawa State. During the operation, Jakata was found in possession of 115 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition, which was concealed.

One accomplice managed to flee into nearby bushes upon sighting the police. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirmed the recovery and stated that Jakata is currently in custody.

The case has been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Makurdi for further investigation. Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu praised the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the operation as a significant success in the fight against criminal networks and the illegal arms trade.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
