EFCC Declares Ex-Petroleum Minister Timipre Sylva Wanted for Corruption

The EFCC has declared Timipre Sylva, former Petroleum Minister and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, wanted for his alleged involvement in a corruption case amounting to over 14 million naira. Sylva is accused of conspiring to divert funds meant for the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the construction of a refinery.

The anti-graft agency issued a warrant for his arrest on November 6, 2025, urging the public to provide information on his whereabouts. Sylva served as Governor of Bayelsa from 2007 to 2012 and later as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources under the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari.
