David Jonsson Cast as New Black Panther in Sequel

British actor David Jonsson has been officially cast as T’Challa’s grown son in the upcoming sequel of the Black Panther franchise, as announced by director Ryan Coogler at San Diego Comic-Con. This character was introduced at the end of the previous film, and Jonsson's casting comes after significant speculation among fans regarding who would assume the mantle of the next Black Panther, with Damson Idris previously considered a frontrunner.

Jonsson expressed his excitement about joining the franchise, stating, “Thank you to this family that I have the honor and the blessing to join.” The sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on December 15, 2028, and will be a groundbreaking project for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it will be shot entirely on larger format celluloid film.
