Carlos Quiroz Appointed Ghana's Coach for 2026 World Cup

The Ghana Football Association has announced the appointment of Carlos Quiroz as the head coach of the senior national football team, the Black Stars, as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Quiroz, a former coach of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Portugal, and Iran, replaces Otto Addo, who was previously sacked.

The decision was made by the executive council of the Ghana Football Association in collaboration with stakeholders. Quiroz, 73, has a notable history, having led Portugal to the knockout stage of the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.

He expressed his commitment to harnessing Ghana's talent and pride in football, emphasizing discipline and ambition. The Black Stars are set to play their first group match against Panama in Toronto, Canada, on June 17, followed by matches against England and Croatia.
