Catholic Priest Rev. Fr. Samuel Oyetoro Killed in Kogi

Samuel Oyetoro, a Catholic priest serving at St. Paul’s Parish in Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area, was killed in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, on July 29, 2026.

He was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area, and hailed from Ayetoro in Ijumu LGA. According to the Kogi State Police Command, the priest was reportedly attacked with a machete, and his body was discovered by the roadside along Church Road in Ajaokuta.

The police received information about the lifeless body at approximately 9:30 a.m. on the day of the incident. Upon arrival, officers observed severe machete cuts to the head of the deceased.

The body was taken to ASCL Hospital, where he was confirmed dead and subsequently deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. The police are currently investigating the case and are working to apprehend those responsible.
