Emir Sanusi’s Wife's Driver Remanded Over Jewelry Theft

Sulaiman Yakubu, the driver for the wife of the Emir of Sanusi, has been remanded in custody following allegations of theft involving jewelry valued at N60 million and cash. He unlawfully entered a room where the items were kept, as stated by prosecuting counsel Barrister Abubakar Ibrahim.

When the charges were read, Yakubu pleaded guilty to the second count while denying the first. His defense counsel, Barrister Abdullahi, filed a bail application, which was granted by Presiding Magistrate Halilu Abdurahman.

The bail conditions include the provision of sureties, specifically a father or brother who is a civil servant not below grade level 15, with a bail sum set at N10 million. The case has been adjourned to April 14 for further hearing, and Yakubu remains in custody until the bail conditions are fulfilled.
