Former Premier League Referee David Coote Receives Suspended Sentence for Child Abuse Video

Former Premier League referee David Coote has been handed a suspended nine-month prison sentence after admitting to creating indecent images of child abuse videos. The 43-year-old resident of Woodhill, Collingham, Nottinghamshire, had the fate of his sentence decided at Nottingham Crown Court.

Coote was also ordered to complete 150 hours of community service and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. The judge, Nirmal Shant KC, highlighted the gravity of the offense, emphasizing the real harm suffered by children.

Coote initially denied the charges but changed his plea to guilty in October. His defense lawyer, Laura Miller, stated that Coote is trying to start a new life.

This case marks a significant fall from grace for Coote, who was sacked by the Football Association in 2024.
