Australia Netball Team Faces Dress Criticism at Glasgow 2026

During the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Australian netball team, known as the Australian Diamonds, received significant criticism for their short and tight playing dresses, which frequently rode up during matches against Tonga and England. Player Sophie Garbin addressed the concerns, explaining that tugging at the dress is a familiar aspect of netball and does not distract from their performance.

Garbin stated, “I feel like as a netballer, I’m always tugging my dress down,” and emphasized that the team appreciates the design by Valour, expressing pride in wearing it. The Australian Diamonds are set to face Malawi on Tuesday, followed by a match against South Africa on Wednesday, and will conclude their group stage campaign against Northern Ireland on Thursday, with a potential semi-final on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
