Ebonyi Timber Workers Praise Free Medical Outreach Initiative

Timber dealers and workers in Ebonyi State expressed gratitude towards Equi-Resp Africa for a free medical outreach focused on respiratory diseases. The initiative, which took place at the Linu Ed Memorial Timber Shed in Abakaliki, was led by Prof.

Jess Unek, the principal investigator of the project, in collaboration with the Institute of Child Health and the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki. The outreach targeted individuals regularly exposed to wood dust and smoke, which are associated with chronic respiratory illnesses such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, pneumonia, and lung cancer.

Beneficiaries, including Mr. Okpani Kingslei and Mr.

Enewo Emeka Enewo, expressed their appreciation for the access to quality healthcare, which they could not afford otherwise. The medical team conducted thorough examinations, provided free medications, and educated attendees about health challenges, particularly heart-related issues.
