Kenya Advises Nationals in South Africa Amid Protests

The Kenya High Commission in Pretoria has issued a safety advisory to Kenyan nationals residing in South Africa, urging them to exercise caution and remain vigilant due to recent demonstrations that have reportedly affected foreign nationals. The advisory, issued on Monday, emphasizes avoiding areas where protests are taking place and carrying valid identification documents.

This advisory comes in light of rising diplomatic tensions in the region, particularly following incidents of violence and anti-foreign sentiment in South Africa. Concurrently, the Nigerian government has expressed concern over the deaths of two Nigerians during anti-foreign protests, demanding accountability from South African authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria raised these issues during a meeting in Abuja with the South African High Commission, highlighting the need for a full investigation into the deaths attributed to the South African National Defence Force. The advisory from Kenya and Nigeria's demands reflect growing concerns over the safety of foreign nationals in South Africa.
