Minna Court Recuses Itself from N3.4bn Niger Foods Fraud Case Involving Alhaji Usman Idri Makanta

The Minna Magistrate Court has recused itself from a N3.4 billion fraud case involving Alhaji Usman Idri Makanta, known as Shinkafa Nupe, accused of defrauding Niger Food Company. Makanta, a former APC governorship aspirant in Niger State, faced six charges including cheating and advance fee fraud.

The Chief Magistrate, Murtala Mohammed Ibrahim, refused to replace the original charges citing jurisdictional issues. The case will now be transferred to the Federal High Court for further prosecution.

The Chairman of Niger Food Company, Sammi Adigun, denied allegations of a N3.4 billion input loan fraud and stated that only N25 million was recovered from the Shinkafa cluster led by Makanta.
