NANS Launches Probe into Abandoned TETFund Projects

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commenced a nationwide investigation into abandoned projects funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). This decision follows growing concerns regarding the poor execution and delays in the delivery of interventions in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
NANS President Akintey Babatunde announced the formation of an independent committee tasked with assessing, verifying, and monitoring the implementation and impact of TETFund projects. The committee is expected to embark on a nationwide tour of universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to evaluate the status of these projects and their effects on teaching, learning, and student welfare.
The committee, chaired by Salahudeen Lukman, aims to submit its findings and recommendations within 90 days. NANS has urged tertiary institutions, TETFund officials, contractors, and student leaders to cooperate with the committee to ensure a credible assessment process.
Concerns regarding abandoned projects, cost overruns, and substandard execution continue to attract criticism from educational stakeholders.
