Activist Urges Tinubu to Address Hunger Crisis in Nigeria

Mulad Sheriff, a Niger Delta activist, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently address the increasing hunger and hardship faced by Nigerians. In a statement issued in Warri, Delta State, Sheriff expressed concern over rising deaths linked to economic hardship and criticized political office holders for prioritizing re-election over addressing pressing socio-economic challenges.

He highlighted the need for the government to protect citizens' welfare, emphasizing that it is the primary responsibility of the federal government. Sheriff noted that the Niger Delta region has remained relatively calm due to youth engagement in pipeline surveillance contracts awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria, which help stabilize the economy.

However, he warned that discontinuing these contracts could worsen security and economic instability, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching. Additionally, he pointed out that the current economic situation is dire, urging the government to act decisively to prevent further deterioration.
