Nigeria to Acquire Emergency Helicopters for Healthcare

On Tuesday, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, initiated high-level discussions with Airbus regarding the procurement of emergency care helicopters, which has been approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This initiative is part of a broader plan to establish an integrated national ground and air health emergency management system in Nigeria. The acquisition of emergency helicopters is expected to strengthen Nigeria's healthcare response system, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, thereby reducing mortality associated with delays in accessing critical care.

Prof. Pate highlighted Nigeria's commitment to modernizing its emergency medical services.

The proposed system aims to significantly improve rapid response capabilities and ensure timely evacuation and treatment of patients during medical emergencies and disasters across Nigeria.
