Nigerian CEO Hires U.S. Lobbying Firm for $720,000 to Boost Nigeria-US Relations

Matthew Tonlagha, CEO of Maton Engin Nigeria Limited, has contracted Valcour LLC, a U.S. lobbying firm, for $720,000 to strengthen Nigeria-US relations. The contract, filed under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), includes engaging with U.S. media, Congress, and the executive branch.

A disclosure reveals that at least $360,000 has already been received by the Nigerian firm. Additionally, part of the engagement involves subcontracting Bridgewai Advocacy for $165,000 to counter claims against Nigeria, particularly amid criticism during Donald Trump's presidency.

Maton Engin Nigeria Limited, operating in the oil and gas sector, provides various energy services. The FARA requires public disclosure of such agreements and financial transactions.

The move aims to address concerns and improve bilateral ties between Nigeria and the United States.
