Nigerian Lawmakers Propose Allocating Forfeited Abuja Duplexes to Low-Income Earners and IDPs

Nigerian lawmakers are pushing for the allocation of 753 forfeited duplexes in Abuja, linked to former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele, to low-income earners and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The motion, sponsored by Jafaru Leko, aims to address Nigeria's housing deficit, particularly in urban areas like Abuja.

However, concerns were raised about the transparent and equitable distribution of the properties to prevent them from falling into the hands of the privileged elite. The move is seen as a step towards utilizing recovered assets for public good and combating corruption.
