Milan to Increase Tourist Tax for 2026 Winter Olympics

In 2026, Milan plans to increase its tourist accommodation tax as part of efforts to fund infrastructure improvements related to the upcoming Winter Olympic Games. The new tax will apply to various types of accommodations within 30 kilometers of the Olympic venue, with charges ranging from €3 to €10 per night.

Specifically, guests staying in four and five-star hotels will be required to pay €10 per night, while those in three-star hotels, bed and breakfasts, and holiday rentals will incur a tax of €3 to €9.50 per night. This tax will be levied for the first 14 consecutive nights of a guest's stay.

The revenue generated from this tax is intended to support the city's infrastructure improvements, ensuring that Milan can effectively manage the influx of visitors and maintain the quality of services during the Olympic events.
