Aregbesola Critiques Nigeria's Political Party Structures

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, a prominent figure in Nigeria's political landscape, expressed concerns about the hollow structures within political parties during a registration mobilization event held in Abuja. He noted that many parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), have become addicted to inflating their membership figures with phantom names and duplicate entries, which do not reflect actual strength.

Aregbesola emphasized that such practices weaken party structures and undermine their ability to win elections and govern effectively. He called for a disciplined and urgent approach to membership registration, insisting that every name must belong to a real person and be verifiable.

He criticized the bureaucratic architecture that allows for dishonest practices and stressed the necessity of integrity in party registration. Aregbesola urged party leaders to ensure that their membership is composed of conscious individuals who understand the party's principles and policies, thereby fostering loyalty and active participation in the political process.
