Zimbabwe Tops Group B After Stunning Win Over Sri Lanka

In a remarkable performance, Zimbabwe stunned Sri Lanka to finish at the top of Group B in the T20 World Cup. Chasing a target of 179 runs, Zimbabwe completed the chase with three balls to spare, marking their unbeaten progress to the Super 8s.

Openers Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani set the stage with a partnership of 69 runs, with Bennett scoring an unbeaten 64 runs. Marumani contributed 34 runs, while captain Sikandar Raza played a crucial role, scoring 45 runs off just 26 balls.

Tashinga Musekiwa fell with eight runs needed, but Toni Munyonga emerged to hit a six, and Bennett secured the win with a drive to cover. This victory follows Zimbabwe's earlier win against Australia and marks their first qualification for the Super 8s since the last T20 World Cup in 2024.

Zimbabwe will face co-hosts India and South Africa in the Super 8s, with their first match against the West Indies scheduled for Monday in Mumbai.
