IGP Disu Advocates Respect for Nigerian Journalists

During the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) congress held in Abuja, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Ridwan Disu addressed the role of journalists in society, asserting that they are professionals deserving of respect, not beggars. He praised the contributions of journalists to public information and national development.

Disu noted that the relationship between the media and the police should be built on mutual respect, emphasizing the critical role journalists play in society. He acknowledged the need for a collaborative approach to security matters, inviting the NUJ FCT council to participate in upcoming events, including the 2026 Press Week celebration.

Grace Ik, the chairman of the NUJ FCT council, congratulated Disu on his appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership, assuring that the council is ready to work with the police to promote responsible journalism and strengthen security in the territory.
