UK Appoints Vicky Seymour as Deputy High Commissioner

The United Kingdom has appointed Ms. Vicky Seymour as its new Deputy High Commissioner in Abuja, Nigeria, succeeding Mrs.

Gill Lever, who completed her posting in June 2026. The British High Commission announced her appointment on Thursday, stating that Seymour has officially assumed office.

She will focus on enhancing the UK’s partnership with Nigeria in areas such as economic growth, security, migration, development, international collaboration, and people-to-people ties. Seymour brings over 20 years of experience in diplomacy and international development, having most recently served as Head of the East Africa Department at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) since 2023.

Her previous roles include leading the FCDO’s Trade Diplomacy Department and serving as Development Director in Mozambique. Seymour expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, aiming to strengthen ties and create opportunities for collaboration between the UK and Nigeria.
