Labour Party Denies Operating Social Media Accounts

The Labour Party, under the leadership of Nenadi, has issued a statement confirming that it does not currently operate any social media accounts. This announcement follows the emergence of fraudulent accounts, particularly one under the handle "labourpartyng," which has been disseminating misleading information.

The party's statement, signed by Ken Eluma Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Interim National Chairman, emphasized that preliminary checks revealed these accounts had been previously disowned by the party in February. The Labour Party stated that it has approximately 12,000 followers on its inactive Facebook account and around 837,000 followers on its official Twitter account.

The party has formally petitioned the Nigerian Police to facilitate the recovery of its official social media account, which is currently under the control of individuals associated with former party leadership, including Julius Abur and Alhaji Umar Farouk. The party has urged the public to disregard any information from these fraudulent accounts, which do not reflect the party's official position.
