Olarenwaju Demola Praises El-Rufai's Political Uniqueness

Olarenwaju Demola, a senior political assistant to Atiku Abubakar, characterized former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as a unique politician in Nigeria. He emphasized El-Rufai's clear-headedness and strategic thinking, particularly in light of his current legal troubles.

El-Rufai is undergoing a judicial trial related to nine charges of alleged fraud and misuse of office, which were brought against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). These charges stem from accusations of corrupt practices, and he has been held in detention since February 19, 2026.

The ICPC sought to revise these charges in Kaduna High Court on April 13. Despite facing health challenges and arrest, Olarenwaju asserted that El-Rufai's unique qualities would allow him to navigate the political landscape effectively, distinguishing him from others who may engage in hypocrisy.
