Osun Pensioners Enroll in Health Scheme, Praise Governor

In Osun State, 20,000 pensioners have enrolled in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) at no cost, as announced by Comrade Lawrence Dele Aina, the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners. During a press briefing, Aina praised Governor Ademola Adeleke for implementing an additional monthly stipend of N25,000, which he stated has provided significant relief and reduced the death rate among pensioners.

The stipend is intended to assist pensioners who previously received between N350 and N750 monthly, making it challenging for them to afford medical treatment. Aina also expressed gratitude for the free borehole sunk by the OHIS team, which has improved living conditions for pensioners.

He urged the government to expedite the implementation of a circular to ensure continued support for pensioners. The program aims to cover minor illnesses and surgeries, with ongoing campaigns to encourage enrollment, especially in rural areas where access to healthcare facilities is limited.
