Nigeria Prepares for 2026 World Athletics Relays Competition

The 2026 World Athletics Relays is set to feature a high-stakes competition with substantial financial prizes for participating teams. Team Nigeria is intensifying its preparations, with the winners of the relay event poised to earn $40,000, while second and third place will receive $20,000 and $10,000, respectively.

Teams finishing eighth will be guaranteed $2,000. The championship will host 40 participating nations and 723 athletes from across Africa, America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania, creating an intense showdown among global sprint powerhouses.

Traditional relay giants such as the United States, Jamaica, and Great Britain will compete alongside strong African contenders, including the host nation Botswana, South Africa, and Kenya.
