Mexico Advances to Round of 16 in 2026 World Cup

In the 2026 World Cup, Mexico has qualified for the Round of 16, becoming the seventh country to achieve this feat. Under the management of Javier Aguirre, Mexico secured their place by defeating Ecuador 2-0 on Wednesday morning.

The goals were scored by Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez in the first half. Ecuador's Piero Hincapi received a red card in the 95th minute, leaving the team with 10 players.

Mexico joins Canada, who also qualified, and will face the winner of the match between England and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Other teams that have progressed to the last 16 include Brazil, Norway, Paraguay, France, and Morocco.
