Somali Referee Denied US Entry Amid Travel Ban

Omar Artan, a respected referee from Somalia, was denied entry into the United States at Miami International Airport. This incident occurred due to a travel ban affecting several countries, which was implemented during Donald Trump's administration.

Aden Abshir, a senior advisor to Somalia's Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, stated that Artan possessed a valid visa for entry. However, he was flown back to Istanbul after being denied entry.

Abshir expressed concern that this denial undermines the spirit of fair play in football and harms the officiating of scheduled matches. The situation highlights ongoing issues related to immigration policies and their impact on international sports, particularly for officials from countries affected by such bans.
