FIFA Unveils New Pre-Match Ceremony for 2026 World Cup

FIFA has introduced a new pre-match ceremony format for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The new format will involve all players in the matchday squad walking onto the pitch, accompanied by youth escorts, rather than just the starting eleven.

This change signifies a departure from the traditional World Cup pre-match routine. During the ceremony, a large national flag banner will be displayed on either side of the pitch, and players will face the referee during the national anthem, creating a moment of unity and pride.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that this initiative allows every player to share the experience of representing their country on football's biggest stage, reflecting the essence of the World Cup.
