Ex-Sokoto Senator Abandons ADC, Joins PDP Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former Sokoto senator Abubakar Gada has officially announced his departure from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Gada, who previously represented Sokoto East senatorial district from 2007 to 2011 under the PDP, cited the need to revitalize the PDP in Sokoto state under the leadership of former governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Gada's move has sparked political discussions and criticisms, with supporters urging women and youth to back his gubernatorial ambitions. However, the PDP's state public secretary, Hassan Sayinnaw, dismissed Gada's declaration as a "joke," claiming no formal registration or awareness of his intent to join the party at any level.
