Gov Makinde to Join ADC After Meeting Atiku - Fayose Reveals

Former Ekiti State Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose disclosed that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has agreed to leave the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election. This decision came after a meeting between Makinde and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Minna, Niger State.

Fayose claimed that Makinde's defection to ADC was contingent on being offered the party's vice presidential ticket as Atiku's running mate. Fayose also alleged that Makinde pledged financial support of N10 billion to ADC for campaign activities.

Additionally, Atiku and Makinde reportedly met with former military President Ibrahim Babangida in Minna to strengthen ADC's structure. Makinde is said to plan to utilize his wife's River State background to garner support from the South-South region.

The strategic meeting is scheduled to take place in Dubai within two weeks.
