Oyo APC Group Advocates for Credible Candidate Selection

A socio-political group known as Progress Congress in Oyo State has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritize credibility in the selection of its governorship candidate for the 2027 elections. In a statement released on Thursday, the group's head, Sundai Ademoroti, highlighted the importance of strategic planning and unity within the party to avoid repeating past political setbacks.

The group warned that electoral success cannot rely solely on popular sentiment but must focus on candidates' capabilities to deliver results. They identified Dr. Adewal Kareem as a fitting candidate whose political approach aligns with the strategic needs of the state.

Ademoroti noted that Kareem's policies extend beyond general promises and are practical at the governance level, which is crucial for attracting support and implementing effective policies. The group cautioned that achieving consensus within the party is essential for credible candidate selection and warned against direct primaries if consensus is not reached.
