NAHCON Seeks to Restore Nigeria's 95,000 Hajj Quota

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced diplomatic consultations to restore Nigeria's Hajj quota to 95,000 pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj. This initiative follows a significant reduction to 50,000 pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.

Alhaji Alidu Shuti, NAHCON's Director of Administration, disclosed this during a stakeholder summit in Abuja. The commission is pursuing additional slots to meet the growing demand from intending pilgrims.

NAHCON plans to engage directly with hotel owners in Madinah to reduce intermediaries and ensure larger accommodations for at least 500 pilgrims. The commission also intends to strengthen its operational guidelines and enhance transparency in Hajj slot allocations.

Stakeholders have expressed confidence that the proposed reforms will improve Nigeria's Hajj administration and overall pilgrimage experience ahead of the 2027 Hajj.
