Kwara Senator Saliu Mustapha Defects to PDP, Supports Tinubu

Saliu Mustapha, the lawmaker representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, confirmed during a live interview on Channels Television that he has not abandoned President Bola Tinubu despite his recent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mustapha cited dissatisfaction with the leadership of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the primary reason for his departure from the APC.

He stated that the G-15, a group of APC governorship aspirants and members of the party’s elders’ caucus in the state, felt 'alienated' by AbdulRazaq's handling of the party. Mustapha emphasized that his choice of the PDP as a platform for the 2027 general elections was deliberate and part of a broader coalition, referencing comments made by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike regarding the Rainbow Coalition extending to Kwara State.
