IGP Olatunji Disu Confirms Police Readiness for Elections

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force was prepared to provide effective security for the 2027 general election. He cited the peaceful conduct of the recent Ekiti and Osun governorship elections as evidence of improved police performance.

Disu made these remarks during a press interview at a grand reception held in his honour and that of Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The event was organized by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys’ Association at the Naval Dockyard in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Disu urged Nigerians to assess the police's performance during the recent elections, noting that the Osun election, which many anticipated would be violent, resulted in no recorded deaths. He also mentioned that the police had recently held a conference to strengthen their preparedness for election duties.

Additionally, Disu reflected on the influence of St. Gregory’s College on his career and values, describing the Lifetime Achievement Award he received as one of his most significant recognitions.
