Tinubu Must Emerge at APC Convention for 2027 Elections, Says Chairman

Despite receiving endorsements, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, stated that President Bola Tinubu must still go through the party's convention to emerge as the standard bearer for the 2027 general elections. Yilwatda emphasized that even though Tinubu has been endorsed by many party members, he must formally declare his candidacy and participate in an open presidential convention as per the provisions of the Electoral Act.

The chairman highlighted that the right of first refusal does not exempt Tinubu from the convention process, ensuring a democratic selection of the party's candidate.
