Kwara PDP Gains Strength with Senator Mustapha's Defection

Prince Seun Odeyemi, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, commented on the recent defection of Senator Salihu Mustapha from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP. He described this move as a major political development that would strengthen the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Odeyemi compared Mustapha’s entry into the PDP to a football club signing Argentine football legend Lionel Messi, calling him a “big fish” whose presence would significantly boost the party’s electoral chances. He expressed that this defection is one of the best things to happen to the Kwara PDP since its defeat in the 2019 elections.

Odeyemi also supported Mustapha’s claim that he would defeat his political rival, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, before noon on election day, asserting that Mustapha's popularity and political history would lead to victory. He emphasized that Mustapha has built considerable political goodwill in Kwara Central, making him one of the most popular politicians in the state.
