Kwara South Monarchs Back Igbomina Bloc for Senate Seat

On November 20, 2023, monarchs from Kwara South endorsed the Igbomina bloc to produce the next senator for the district in the 2027 elections. The meeting took place at the palace of Oba Ismail Yahaya in Irepodun Local Government Area.

The chairman of the Igbomina Traditional Ruler Forum, Oba Yahaya, highlighted the historical political representation in the district, noting that the Ekiti bloc produced Senator Simeon Ajibola for 11 years, while the Ibolo bloc produced Senator Rafiu Ibrahim and Senator Lola Ashiru for a total of 12 years. He emphasized the need for a rotational arrangement among the three blocs—Igbomina, Ekiti, and Ibolo—to ensure fairness and equity.

The Igbomina bloc is expected to produce Senator Makanujola Ajadi, who has served approximately five years. The traditional rulers expressed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, urging continued collaboration for the development of the region.
