Na’allah Urges Politicians to Avoid Reckless Rhetoric

On 15 September 2026, former Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’allah, warned Nigerian politicians to avoid reckless statements and personal attacks in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. Speaking during an interview with ARISE NEWS, Na’allah stressed that politicians should prioritize Nigeria's interests over personal ambitions.

He expressed concern over the tone of political discourse, particularly referencing a statement attributed to President Bola Tinubu that “everything is fair in politics,” which Na’allah had not personally verified. He noted that some politicians were already engaging in overly personal attacks, which could have detrimental effects on the country.

Na’allah raised questions about the aftermath of the 2027 elections, regardless of the outcome, urging acceptance of the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He expressed confidence in INEC's ability to conduct credible elections, citing the recent Osun governorship election as evidence that the All Progressives Congress could not influence the outcome despite its senior members' presence.
