Shinkafi Warns Tinubu: 2027 Elections in Voter Hands

Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the outcome of the 2027 elections will be decided by the Nigerian electorate rather than by political defections to the APC. During a discussion on Dr.

Kenon's talk show, Shinkafi highlighted that the political landscape has changed since the 2015 and 2023 elections, where structural advantages did not guarantee electoral success. He referenced Peter Obi's previous candidacy in the 2003 Anambra State governorship election and his subsequent success in the 2023 presidential election despite lacking a formidable party structure at the time.

Shinkafi stressed the need for the APC to reconnect with grassroots voters and fulfill campaign promises, warning that mass dissatisfaction could hinder political parties' chances in the upcoming elections. He also expressed support for real-time electronic transmission of election results to enhance transparency and credibility, citing the 97% internet coverage in Nigeria as a means to achieve this.
