Peter Obi Meets U.S. Consul General to Discuss Elections

On Tuesday, Peter Obi, a chieftain of the Nigerian Democrat Congress (NDC) and former governor of Anambra State, met with U.S. Consul General Rick Swart in Lagos.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the context of Nigeria's electoral process. Obi disclosed details of the engagement via his social media platform, emphasizing the importance of credible elections in Nigeria.

He stressed the need to ensure that polls are free from interference and provide a level playing field for political parties, especially opposition groups. Additionally, Obi highlighted the significance of building a democratic environment that allows diverse political voices to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The discussions also included trade and business opportunities between Nigeria and the United States, reflecting a broader effort to deepen economic cooperation.
