Accord Party's Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim Rejects INEC Exclusion

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, the presidential candidate for the Accord Party, has publicly rejected his exclusion from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final list of candidates for the 2027 presidential election. In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, Hashim asserted that he is the duly nominated candidate of the Accord Party and emphasized that INEC's publication of the final list cannot override a subsisting court case regarding his exclusion.

He stated, “I am the candidate of the Accord Party. No one can exclude me from the 2027 presidential election.

The court will do justice.” Hashim has filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order to compel the Accord Party to recognize him as its presidential candidate and submit his name to INEC. He claims to have won the party's presidential primary on May 30, 2026, and argues that his candidacy cannot be nullified by INEC's administrative listing.

Hashim expressed confidence in the judicial process and criticized political interests that oppose his participation in the upcoming election.
