Nenadi Usman: Election Transmission Concerns Exaggerated

Nenadi Usman, the chairman of the Labour Party, addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the manual transmission of election results, stating that the concerns associated with the provision in Section 60(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 are somewhat exaggerated. Speaking at a live citizen town hall in Abuja focused on the Electoral Act 2026, Usman commended lawmakers for approving electronic transmission of results via the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IREV).

She highlighted that the success of political parties in the upcoming 2027 elections would depend on their preparedness, particularly in deploying trained agents across the 176,974 polling units nationwide. Usman noted that despite previous challenges, the Labour Party is committed to ensuring effective representation and accurate documentation of results.

She stressed that political parties must strengthen their internal structures and prepare adequately to counter any disruptions that may arise during the elections, asserting that real-time electronic transmission is not the sole guarantor of credible results.
