Dangote Group to Build $2.5bn Fertiliser Plant in Ethiopia

Fatima Aliko Dangote, Executive Director of Commercial Operations at Dangote Group, announced the establishment of a $2.5 billion urea fertiliser plant in Gode, Ethiopia, designed to produce 3 million metric tons per annum. This initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity and food security across Africa.

The announcement was made during the 15th Gateway Trade Fair organized by the Ogun Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Aliko Dangote highlighted the trade fair's theme of promoting business partnerships and the importance of public-private collaboration in driving economic growth.

The Dangote Group is also committed to reducing import dependence and enhancing local capabilities through investments in technology and job creation. Additionally, the company is expanding its cement production capacity in Ogun State and has plans for a petroleum refinery with a target of 1.4 million barrels per day.

The event was attended by Niyi Oshiyemi, Chairman of OgunCCIMA, who emphasized the significance of fostering commercial collaboration.
