2Baba Criticizes Fela, Wizkid Comparison, Praises Burna Boy Among 'Big 3'

Nigerian music icon 2Baba, also known as Innocent Idibia, shared his views on the ongoing debate comparing late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and contemporary artist Wizkid. In a podcast episode released by Seun Okinbaloy on February 7, 2Baba criticized the comparison as ridiculous and disrespectful to Fela's legacy.

He specifically highlighted Burna Boy among the 'Big 3' Nigerian artists, acknowledging his impact. 2Baba explained that comparing artists from different eras with varied contributions to Nigerian music is unfair. While acknowledging the popularity of Wizkid and Davido, he emphasized the need to appreciate each artist's unique influence.

The musician also expressed his admiration for rising star Ayra Starr and praised her musical talent. 2Baba's comments come amidst social media debates and criticisms from individuals like Seun Kuti. The latter recently faced backlash for a viral video showing a ritual near Fela Kuti's grave.
