$3.5bn Brass Fertiliser Project Launches in October, Bayelsa Seeks Stake

The $3.5 billion Brass Fertiliser and Petrochemical Project is set to begin in October, aiming to produce a metric tonne of methanol per day. Chief Okoye reveals the project's delay due to gas component negotiations, with an agreement finally reached in January.

President Tinubu directed the Minister of State for Petroleum to kickstart the project last October. During a visit to Governor Douye Diri, Okoye assured that necessary steps are being taken for the project's implementation.

The Governor requested a stake in the project due to the Petroleum Industry Act's impact on oil-producing states, emphasizing the need for equity and inclusion.
