40 young golfers set for Awa Ibraheem junior championship in Lagos

The Awa Ibraheem Junior Open Golf Championship in Lagos is set to feature 40 young golfers aged six to 16 at the Ikeja Golf Club from October 17-19. The 12th edition of the championship will see boys and girls competing in four categories, with five players per gender in each category.

Notable participants include Tiaraoluwa Ahmadu, Michelle Wesley, Melvin Strasser, and John Ochaba. The event is organized by the Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF), with one qualifier set to advance to the 2026 World School Golf Championship.

Registration for the event was open from August 20 to September 25, with 16 players eligible to participate. This championship aims to promote junior golf talent in Nigeria and provide a platform for young golfers to showcase their skills.
