FG Reintegrates 90,000 Children into Education System

On April 29, 2026, Nigeria's Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, announced that 90,000 children have been brought back into the education system as part of new reforms to tackle the country's school crisis. This initiative was shared during a basic education boot camp held in Plateau State.

The current administration's ongoing reforms focus on expanding access to basic education, improving teacher quality, promoting girl child education, and enhancing science and technology learning. Alausa emphasized the importance of alternative learning models, including digital open school systems, to reach children unable to access conventional classrooms.

Additionally, he highlighted plans to relaunch the national school feeding program, which is expected to resume in six pilot states across the country, describing it as a key factor in boosting enrollment and keeping children in school. The Minister acknowledged the support from the Plateau State government and reiterated the government's commitment to improving access and quality in basic education for every child.
